Team reveal: Charlie Dadds drops his Supercoach BBL squad

Hello and welcome to another SuperCoach season!



The trials and tribulations of the respective AFL and NRL game modes has come and gone, and now BBL is nearing ever so closer.



There’s something different in the air…



It smells a bit more like summer, feels a bit more like summer, and sure as hell looks a LOT more like summer now that the grey clouds have made way for bright blue skies.&nbsp;

Last season’s BBL SuperCoach adventure went just about as I anticipated; started poorly, gained momentum, climbed the ranks, then got wayyy too big for my boots in the final few weeks and decided to make some absolutely heinous trades and captain decisions.



All in all, that’s a win in my books!



I ended up finishing with a rank of 686th and, like the vast majority of SuperCoach players out there, will be aiming to beat that in 2023/2024.



So, strap in and let’s get to it.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">WICKET-KEEPERS</h2>



Quinton de Kock 



At this stage, I’m picking this guy as my starting keeper for a few reasons:

<li>He’s an absolute beast with the bat</li>



<li>He has two DGW’s in his first three rounds</li>



<li>He smashed four centuries in ten World Cup matches</li>
</ol>



Sam Whiteman



It seems as though Whitey is nearly everyone’s bench keeper to start the year, and for good reason too because he’s coming off an incredible knock of 137* against the Redbacks!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BATTERS</h2>



Colin Munro



He’s got three opportunities to go largeeee…



Glenn Maxwell



I don’t think it’s wise to try and anti-pod the Big Show. Lock him in.



Sam Billings



I was pretty keen on Nathan McSweeney until being named in the PM’s XI, so the English international comes in.



Marcus Stoinis



Too cheap to ignore for me!&nbsp;



Has a bitttt of a tricky fixture with two doubles in the first three games and a bye smack bang in the middle, so just make sure you’ve got some depth on your bench.

Josh Philippe&nbsp;



Round 1 double and NO BYES… Set and forget stud.



Ben McDermott



The fact that Derm started last season at a whopping $212k &#8211; and now sits at just $88k &#8211; really just alludes to how much of a value pick he is this year. Lock.



D’Arcy Short



Very much a wait-and-see regarding his role.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BOWLERS</h2>



Jhye Richardson



In Jhye’s first double of last season, he absolutely TORCHED the competition with a massive score of 260.&nbsp;



If my memory serves correctly, I had the captaincy on him and finished the round in 123rd, so here’s hoping history repeats itself.



Sean Abbott



I imagine picking the two pace bowlers who are most likely to finish the year with the most wickets in the comp is a step in the right direction when it comes to BBL SuperCoach.&nbsp;



It’s also just a nice security blanket knowing that with no byes for the Sixers, I can keep Abbott in the side all year long if I want to.



Adam Zampa



Arguably the best spinner in the comp, especially after what he’s just done in the World Cup.



Spencer Johnson



For the last year, Johnson has been in some serious form with ball in hand and I would hate to think about his potential score after a TGW if I didn’t own him.&nbsp;



At the time of writing he’s under a little injury cloud, so let’s just hope that clears up before Round 1.

Kuhner’s is the clear #1 spinn option for the Heat this season.



Tanveer Sangha



Sangha had a brilliant 2021/2022 season where he managed to average 45 points and reach a max price of $169.2k. Dare I say… Value?



Nikhil Chaudary



Keeping the bench warm until I found someone more suitable.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Decision Time</h2>



Dropping de Kock



It’s *sadly* looking increasingly likely that I’ll need to drop de Kock down to Joe Clarke in order to have even a sniff at being able to afford Matt Short for his Round 2 double.&nbsp;



With a shorter (no pun intended) season this year, it’s imperative that you get points on the board as early as possible and not having Short for a DGW could really be the difference.&nbsp;



Jhye Richardson’s spot in my side is also currently in doubt because of this…

Abbott to Short to Rauf??



Currently with $63k in the bank (without Neser or Johnson in the team), the only logical way of being able to bring Short in for his double is by trading out Abbott after Round 1…&nbsp;



But then Short has a Round 3 bye, at which point the Stars begin a stretch where they have two doubles in three weeks.&nbsp;



A large amount of SuperCoach involves thinking two, three, even four weeks ahead at times so make sure you’ve got a plan ready for when the doubles become byes and the byes become doubles.



Is Jhye the Guy?



Put simply, yes… Jhye is the absolute MAN.&nbsp;



However, in the context of spreading out the funds in order to afford other key players (like the aforementioned Short), then questions can rightfully be asked regarding Richo’s spot in your side.&nbsp;



Particularly when you’ve got Andrew Tye and Lance Morris at $65k and $90k cheaper respectively &#8211; who have both shown at times that they can score at a similar rate &#8211; then things get interesting…&nbsp;



Perhaps Tye is the Guy?
