NRL Supercoach Final Word | Round 6 trades and skippers


<p>Like many, heading into last week, I felt as though my side was stronger than it had been all season.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Unfortunately, this confidence withered away the further we got into the weekend, as my side posted an embarrassingly low 1107 points to see ourselves sliding even further down the rankings.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Having your captain knocked out in the first half is never a positive, although I can’t complain too much, with many Supercoach managers being in the same boat.</p>



<p>Nonetheless, we’ve got moves to make this week, and with so many good trade options on the horizon, let’s get into it!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trade Strategy</strong></h3>



<p>As a disheartened Titans fan, I have gotten used to thinking, “we have a solid side on paper, we should be doing better”.</p>



<p>Well, this is how I feel about my Supercoach side this season, it’s solid but just not pumping out those big scores….yet.</p>



<p>That being said, this is definitely a boost week for me.</p>



<p>The main problem with my side is the team balance.</p>



<p>Due to a mixture of good cheapies and interesting trade decisions, I have ended up with all 10 of my FRF and 2RF being playable options on a weekly basis.</p>



<p>This sounds like a positive, but it has left my CTW in dire straits.</p>



<p>So, my goal over the next few weeks is to restructure my team to make sure my money is invested in the right positions and players (cough cough Sir Nicholas Hynes).</p>



<p>Anyway, enough beating around the bush, let’s talk through the players on my trade radar this week.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trade Options</strong></h3>



<p>We will start off with the no-brainer.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Reece Walsh</strong> out for <strong>Tom Trbojevic</strong>.</p>



<p>Turbo had his hands on absolutely everything in the first half last week, and as a non-owner, I definitely dodged a bullet with his early shower.</p>



<p>I know the Dolphins were poor, but Manly looked like a different side under Foran last week.</p>



<p>I’m not saying they will keep this up, but the Dragons this week just screams of a Turbo 150+.</p>



<p>Outside of that, I am still very much undecided.</p>

<p>In my FRF, both <strong>Stefano</strong> and <strong>Keaon</strong> have been underwhelming recently and could both find themselves on the way out.</p>



<p>Like I said before, I am already too heavily invested in FRF, so as good as <strong>Alex Twal</strong> looks, I think it may have to be a pass from me.</p>



<p>But the fact that I can go from Keaon to Twal and save money is incredibly tempting.</p>



<p><strong>Keano Kini </strong>is the other who has been underperforming.</p>



<p>The Titans&#8217; attack is clunky, and Kini doesn&#8217;t look confident, but the floor is still good.</p>



<p>It has always been a case of when I would trade out Kini, and the time was going to be this week.</p>



<p>But with Walsh going down, I may have to give Kini one last chance up against a depleted Eels outfit this week.</p>



<p>Hopefully, he repays the faith. </p>

<p>Moving on to trade-ins, I think we have to start with <strong>Nicho Hynes</strong>.</p>



<p>Hynes has started the season with scores of 131, 41 (against Penrith), 81, 100, and 144.</p>



<p>Averaging an outrageous 99.4 on the season, 114 if you exclude the Penrith game.</p>



<p>Nicho is just one of those guys you love to own in Supercoach, an accumulator who seems to go up by 15 points every time you check the Supercoach app.</p>



<p>He is a must-have and a season keeper, but is this the week to do it?</p>



<p>A breakeven of 18 coming up against the Chooks, but with a bye looming the week after.</p>



<p>If you can do it this week, I think you do, but for me personally, Hynes has already been penciled in as a trade-in for round 8.</p>



<p>It may cost me $60k or so, but I have other moves I need to make in the CTW this week.</p>

<p>Here are the three players I am targeting:<strong> Latrell Mitchell</strong>, <strong>Casey McLean</strong>, and <strong>Mark Nawaqanitawase</strong>.</p>



<p>Trell is the obvious one, and the guy I am probably leaning towards.</p>



<p>It has been a tough watch as a non-owner so far this season, and I think it&#8217;s time I just bite the bullet.</p>



<p>With Latrell&#8217;s low base and 5 tries in 4 games, the concern is obviously that some low scores may be coming, but with how good that Bunnies left edge is looking, why can&#8217;t Trell keep this up?</p>



<p>McLean is another guy who is very much on my radar.</p>



<p>Penrith have started the season on FIRE, and I desperately want another piece of them, especially now I have missed out on <strong>Tom Jenkins</strong>.</p>



<p>With a breakeven of 8, I would have to move this week, before McLean&#8217;s price also gets out of reach.</p>



<p>As much as I love him as a POD option, Trell is objectively the better trade in, I think. </p>

<p>That then leads me to Marky Mark.</p>



<p>The Chooks have started slow, and so has he, with just the 3 tries to date.</p>



<p>Despite this, he is still averaging a solid 69 on the season, largely thanks to his improved base power, which is up to 47.</p>



<p>He is the type of player who could explode any given week, and also just a fun guy to watch as an owner.</p>



<p>I am tempted, to say the least.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Captaincy picks</strong></h3>



<p>With a plethora of good options this week, I will leave the captaincy deep dive to Clem, but for my side, here&#8217;s what I&#8217;m thinking.</p>



<p>Nathan Cleary vs the Dogs, Turbo vs the Dragons, and Fa&#8217;alogo vs the Warriors are the three players piquing my interest.</p>



<p>I am currently leaning VC Turbo into C Fa&#8217;alogo, although this could very much turn into a VC Cleary into C Turbo come kick-off tonight.</p>



<p>Based on how bad the Dragons have looked and how good Turbo has looked, I have to have something on him.</p>



<p>And surely the Storm are due a big performance against the Wahs to keep their impressive streak alive.</p>
