AFL Supercoach 2026: Final Word - Round 19


<p>There’s honestly only so much I &#8211; and every other coach &#8211; can take.</p>



<p>I’m a believer in karma and what’s right is right and all that jazz, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what the hell I did to deserve a potentially season-ending injury to midfield superstar Zak Butters.</p>



<p>But, as a JHF non-owner, perhaps I got the better end of what is an objectively rough stick.</p>



<p>Times are tough as a SuperCoacher.</p>



<p>I’ve been bouncing around the 12k mark for about a month and can’t make much forward progress, so here’s hoping I can capitalise on an injury and suspension-riddled week.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trade Talk</strong></h2>



<p>SuperCoach is all relative.</p>



<p>I can’t sit there and tell you to trade Zak Butters when, in reality, you’ve probably only got one or two trades left.</p>



<p>If you’re sitting pretty with three, and can easily straight swap him to an uber premo, pull the trigger.</p>



<p>But for guys and girls like me, scraping the bottom of the barrell, I think we’re better off keeping our scarce trades up our sleeves.</p>



<p>Especially when our bench fodder in Marcus Herbert (86) and Joel Fitzgerald (106) are proving more than capable each week.</p>



<p>In a nutshell, my advice for the vast majority of coaches is to hold Butters and loop Herbert and Fitzy for the rest of the season.</p>



<p>Bank that very, very, VERY precious trade and save it for a rainy day (like if/when a forward gets injured and you’ve got zero bench cover).</p>
