Six Again | NRL Supercoach Round 25, everything you need to know

Let’s engage in an exercise of time travel, back to my article from just two weeks ago where I wrote:

“NRL Supercoach 2026 round 22 will go down in the history books.

Four teams amassed the once unfathomable score of 2000 points!!! While teams who ‘only’ managed 1500 points were faced with major red arrows.

32 scores of 90+, 20 scores of 100+, 7 scores of 120+, and even a double-century chucked in there.

We know that defences typically tend to open up late in the season, and points flow, so is this the start of a generationally high point-scoring run in NRL Supercoach?”

Well, the answer to my question is a big, fat, resounding, NO!

Embed from Getty Images

For those who thought round 23 was bad, round 24 made sure they quickly replaced that sour memory with one that was even worse.

Round 24 was a round of disaster for so many Supercoach sides. 1458 points was enough to take home team of the week, while 1200 points was probably enough to see some green arrows.

Just 6 players reached triple figures. DCE and Lachlan Ilias made up two of them, which probably says enough in itself. Congratulations to the 26 managers in the top 5% who own one of the two!

Captain picks flopped, injuries hit hard, and just about everything that could have gone wrong did.

With just three weeks of the season to go, let’s just pray the Supercoach gods can all give us a bit of luck to end the year on a high.

NRL ROUND 25 PREVIEW

Round 25 will kick off at 7:50pm AEST, Thursday, the 20th of August, with Melbourne hosting a Penrith side desperate to return to winning ways.

It is a week of graveyard matchups, with the Souths vs Warriors really being the only game where both teams have something on the line.

I mean the Raiders vs Broncos is the only true ‘graveyard’ game between two teams that have both been eliminated from Finals contention already. However, I would not be shocked to see a massive Raiders’ performance for Big Papa’s Canberra send-off.

The rest of the games this week are between a team whose season is very much alive and a team whose season is done. Logic would say we may have a few absolute hidings on the cards this week, but it doesn’t always seem to go that way.

This week it is the Cowboys who get the bye, as they prepare for a big last push to cement themselves in the top 8.

KEY AVAILABILITY WATCH

Each week, we will list players whose injury statuses have changed in the week prior.

Keep your eyes out for Team Lists on a Tuesday afternoon, where we will know a lot more about most of these injuries.

Reece Walsh (BRI): Horrible news for Walsh, who suffered a lower leg injury that will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Connelly Lemuelu (DOL): Suffered a minor hamstring injury that is expected to rule him out for at least a couple of weeks.

Dane Gagai (NEW): Suffered a suspected minor hamstring injury that may see him miss some time.

Keaon Koloamatangi (STH): Came from the field with a shoulder concern but is expected to be good to go this week.

Simi Sasagi (CBR): Was rested last week as expected with an ongoing shoulder injury, reported to be playing this week for Papa’s farewell.

Braydon Trindall (SHA): Suffered a dislocated shoulder and is likely to miss the rest of the regular season.

Luke Metcalf (NZL): Suffered a hamstring strain; at best, will still likely rule him out for the rest of the regular season.
